The Kalamassery police have taken two additional suspects, Saranya (also known as Ammu) and Sanju, into custody in the alleged gang‑rape case that unfolded in Kochi. The duo was apprehended in Wayanad, and they are expected to be brought to the Kalamassery police station later that day, according to District Police Chief Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar.
Earlier this week, the police arrested two men—Sreeraj from Karthikappally, Alappuzha, and Jithu Martin from Thrikkakara, Ernakulam—on Monday in connection with the case. Both men have been remanded in judicial custody. The investigation began after the victim, who was promised a managerial position at a spa, was allegedly drugged and gang‑raped at a lodge on October 2.
Chief Mahesh Kumar also announced that three spas operated by Sreeraj were raided as part of the probe. He said the police would launch a broader investigation into illegal spas in Kochi.
Minister for Social Justice V. E. Abdul Gafoor confirmed that the government would provide full support to the survivor. In a statement from his office, the minister said he had spoken with the survivor’s partner and assured that treatment and legal aid would be made available to the victim.
