Two men were arrested by the Kalamassery police in Kochi for allegedly drugging and gang‑raping a woman at a lodge in Edappally. The suspects, Sreeraj, 30, from Karthikappally in Alappuzha district, and Jith Martin, 27, from Thrikkakara in Ernakulam district, were taken into custody and placed in judicial custody.
The arrests were made on Sunday, two days after the alleged incident. Both men were remanded in judicial custody following the investigation.
According to police, the victim was lured to the lodge under the pretext of a job opportunity at a local spa. The accused allegedly forced her to consume alcohol and drugs before sexually assaulting her.
Police suspect that the men are part of a sexual racket linked to some spas. Additional arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
