Buxar, Oct 5 – At least 22 pilgrims from Telangana were injured when a bus carrying them to Ayodhya collided with a truck on the Veer Kunwar Singh Bridge near Buxar, officials said.

The pilgrims had come to Gayaji to perform pind daan during the Pitru Paksha Mela. The accident occurred at about 4 a.m. on the bridge that links Bihar with Uttar Pradesh.

Buxar SDPO Gaurav Pandey confirmed that after the collision, the passengers were taken to Buxar Sadar Hospital for treatment and are now out of danger. The bus’s front portion was badly damaged, but the vehicle was removed from the spot and traffic was cleared.

The group had completed the pind daan rituals at Gayaji and were en route to Ayodhya when the accident happened. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
