New Delhi, Oct 1 – Two inmates, Naveen Bali and Sandeep “Dhillu” alias, allegedly assaulted and threatened prison officials in the high‑security ward of Central Jail No. 2 in Tihar during the last week of September.
According to jail officials, the pair created a chaotic scene, intimidating staff and issuing life threats to ward officials and the jail superintendent. The men reportedly warned that they would kill the officers and then began to physically attack them.
During a family meeting conducted via e‑Mulaqat, Sandeep Dhillu allegedly became aggressive, abused the staff and struck his head against doors, walls and a cooler. Staff intervened and restrained him, after which he was allowed to finish the interview and was then returned to his block. Officials suspect that Dhillu may have been under the influence of narcotics and had a urine test administered.
The incident is being investigated as a security matter. Authorities are reviewing the conduct of the two inmates and the circumstances that led to the threats and the attempted self‑harm.
