A passenger was removed from an IndiGo flight bound for Kadapa at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Telangana, after he triggered a security sensor alarm by touching the emergency exit handle. The incident occurred during the boarding process, as police later clarified.
Initial reports suggested the event happened while the aircraft was preparing for take‑off, but police stated it was unintentional and took place while passengers were boarding. The passenger, identified as Dinesh, had originally been seated in the ninth row but was moved to the second row, which is located in the emergency exit seating area.
While settling in, Dinesh inadvertently touched the emergency exit handle, setting off the alarm. Airline staff immediately intervened and deboarded him. He was then handed over to the RGIA Outpost Police Station.
Police confirmed that the emergency exit was not opened and that Dinesh had not deliberately attempted to operate it, emphasizing that the incident was accidental and that no attempt was made to open the door.
