Bengaluru police arrested 11 people, including a married couple, in connection with an alleged attempt to kill a man over a long‑standing feud in the Subramanyapura area of southwest Bengaluru.
The accused are Manikanta, 27; his wife Keerthana, 21; Prem V.; Manoj G.; Krishnagupta; Akash, alias Mandya; Munna; Madhusudhan; Darshan S.; Sudeep M.N.; and Bharath M.G., all in their twenties. The alleged motive stems from an old enmity that arose during a cricket match played two months earlier, during which the parties fought over bats and wickets.
The attacks took place on September 20. In the first incident, the complainant and a friend were standing at a vacant site in Uttarahalli when six to seven motorcyclists arrived and stabbed them with daggers. Later that day, while the complainant was eating near Uttarahalli Main Road, another group of more than five motorcyclists attacked him with iron rods and also assaulted his nephew, who had intervened.
Two cases were registered at the Subramanyapura police station on September 21. Using technical evidence and CCTV footage, investigators questioned Keerthana about the whereabouts of the accused; she provided false information and concealed that they had visited her house. All accused were produced before a court and taken into police custody for interrogation. Four, including the woman, have been remanded in judicial custody, while the remaining seven are still being interrogated.
