Foreign buyers attending the 13th edition of the Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) highlighted the need for stronger promotion of Kerala’s attractions and cultural diversity to boost tourist arrivals. Participants urged that the state and the country increase marketing efforts.
Among the visitors was Han Jae Chiul, a South Korean tour operator who had studied Indian culture before the event. He noted that only 120,000 of Korea’s 20 million outbound tourists visit India each year and urged greater campaigns in Korea to showcase Kerala’s heritage.
Brazilian incentive‑tourism specialist Juliana Teles said Kerala is gaining popularity in Brazil as a relaxed, wellness destination, though the Golden Triangle remains more popular at home.
Other attendees shared on‑ground experiences. Kenyan operator Sarah Musyimi praised a Water Metro ferry ride from Bolgatty Palace to Willingdon Island, describing the event as a showcase of Kerala’s vibrant culture beyond Ayurveda.
Hungarian traveler Katalin Radvanyi, who toured Mattancherry and Fort Kochi, highlighted the state’s heritage sites such as the Paradesi Synagogue, Dutch Palace, and St. Francis Church.
The focus on experiential tourism resonated with several buyers. U.S. travel executive Jessi Flegane expressed interest in packages that blend nature, wildlife, and luxury.
British operator Eric Holliday emphasized Kerala’s relaxing milieu and backwaters as an introduction to India, while New York‑based Mayla Melo praised the homestay concept for offering authentic local experiences.
