A 23‑year‑old woman from Haryana’s Fatehabad was invited to a pilgrimage but was later gangraped at a farmhouse in Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested two of their own officers and two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in connection with the case.
According to the police, the incident unfolded in the Hasanpur area of Amroha. The victim was contacted on 20 September by a female acquaintance who asked her to meet CRPF Inspector Mohit from Saurang village, Muzaffarnagar district, to visit religious sites in Amroha. She met Mohit in Sonipat on 21 September, and they travelled to Meerut where Mohit was joined by CRPF Head Constable Lalaram Yadav from Alwar, Rajasthan. On 22 September, Mohit and his colleague met Inspector Sanjay Tomar, a sub‑inspector posted at Hasanpur police station, and the four men travelled in Mohit’s Brezza to Jhulpuri farm. The victim claims that she was taken to the farmhouse, where the men rented two rooms. She alleges that the men entered her room and raped her one by one, after which she locked the room and sought help.
The survivor contacted police around 6 am on Wednesday. Teams from Hasanpur and Rajabpur police stations rushed to the farmhouse, took the woman to safety and apprehended all four accused. An FIR was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abduction, enticement and gangrape. All four accused have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
The sub‑inspector has been suspended and departmental proceedings have been initiated. A report has been sent to senior CRPF authorities recommending strict disciplinary action against the two paramilitary personnel involved.
