The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) in Haryana has launched a three‑day drive from 7 to 9 October to dispose of pending notices issued under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. The campaign involves special camps and house‑to‑house collection of documents at polling stations where voter records are still incomplete.
On 7 and 8 October, the CEO’s office disposed of 57,339 pending hearing cases, cutting the number of cases awaiting hearings to 285,834 out of the total notices generated in the state. The remaining cases are scheduled to be cleared by 28 October, ahead of the publication of the final roll on 6 November.
Across Haryana, 4,491,923 notices were issued for unmapped cases and other discrepancies. The drive aims to resolve all pending hearings before the final roll is released.
BLOs report heavy workloads, with some receiving up to 900 notices at a time. Teachers and other officials have also been drawn into the effort, leaving schools short of staff. Many voters are unavailable during the day, forcing BLOs to conduct evening visits, and some have faced rude behaviour from residents. Despite these challenges, the CEO’s office remains committed to completing the revisions on schedule.
