On Friday, September 18, 2026, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a telephone call from United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The leaders exchanged views on developments in West Asia and discussed ways to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During the conversation, the two heads of state outlined new measures to strengthen the India‑UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Topics included energy, defence, technology, investment and health. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promote regional peace, security and stability.

Modi posted on X, expressing gratitude for the call and highlighting the discussion on deepening the partnership and advancing regional cooperation. The statement also mentioned the UAE president’s congratulations on India’s successful BRICS presidency.
The call coincided with the UAE president congratulating Modi on his 76th birthday and India’s role as BRICS president. Modi praised the participation of UAE Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled at the BRICS Summit and the UAE’s cooperation in achieving substantive outcomes under India’s presidency.
