BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao condemned opposition parties for what he described as “negative and divisive” politics, saying they were not playing a constructive role as India moves toward becoming a developed nation. He made the remarks after visiting the Balapur Ganesh pandal on Sunday and addressed the media on the need for policy‑based criticism.
Rao singled out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition figures, accusing them of resorting to personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi rather than engaging in substantive policy debate. He argued that the Congress lacked the confidence to challenge the BJP on governance and development issues, and therefore focused on personal criticism.
At a press conference held at the BJP state office, Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao expressed confidence that the party would win the Khairatabad bypoll following the disqualification of sitting legislator Danam Nagender by the High Court for switching parties. Rao noted that Nagender had never won a byelection and said the BJP was well positioned to succeed if a bypoll were held.
Rao also launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, accusing them of praising the former Nizam for political gains. He alleged that the Congress and the BRS were highlighting the Nizam’s legacy despite documented oppression, discrimination and exploitation during his rule. Rao questioned whether the Chief Minister believed that “Operation Polo,” led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to integrate Hyderabad State into the Indian Union, was unjustified, and warned that such remarks could send a wrong message to families of those who fought in the Telangana liberation struggle.
