A tragic accident occurred during the Ganesh idol immersion procession in Raichur on the early hours of Saturday, September 19, 2026, resulting in the deaths of two minor boys and the injury of a 35‑year‑old man.
The deceased were identified as 12‑year‑old Suchit Kumar and 13‑year‑old Charan Kumar. The injured individual, Vijay, aged 35, is currently receiving treatment.
According to the First Information Report, the tractor carrying the idol was driven rashly while negotiating a speed breaker, causing the vehicle to become unbalanced and all three occupants to fall from the moving tractor.
The victims were immediately transported to Navodaya Hospital in Raichur, where both boys succumbed to their injuries. Raichur Superintendent of Police Arunangshu Giri said the accident was caused by the tractor’s imbalance while attempting to cross the road hump. The traffic police have registered a case against the driver, Munna alias Mohammad Hussain, and have begun an investigation.
