The office‑bearers of the Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) (TMC(M)) have authorised party president G.K. Vasan to decide the party’s stance on the upcoming byelections in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies. In a meeting that brought together district presidents and state‑level office‑bearers, Vasan was given the responsibility to determine whether the party will extend support to any formation.
The party is expected to announce its position within two days. It is noteworthy that TMC(M) was part of the AIADMK‑led National Democratic Alliance during the 2026 Assembly elections, a fact that provides context to its historical alliances.
On Saturday, the party organised a session at its headquarters in Chennai titled “A change in politics after 60 years and what people think.” Mr. Vasan and other senior leaders addressed the gathering, speaking on the topic.
