India dispatched a fresh tranche of 11 tonnes of relief material to Kathmandu on Saturday aboard a military transport aircraft. The consignment includes medicines, forensic supplies, tents, sleeping bags and other essential items.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar posted photographs of the shipment on the social‑media platform X, emphasizing that India continues to support Nepal’s recovery following the recent flash floods.
The delivery was part of India’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) programme and was flown on an IAF C‑130 aircraft. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, India has already sent more than 130 tonnes of relief material and deployed 54 expert personnel to aid Nepal’s rescue, relief and forensic operations.
The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal rose to 1,410, with over 6,100 people still missing, as reported by the country’s disaster management authorities. The floods, triggered by an ice‑rock avalanche near the Nepal‑Tibet border on August 26, devastated towns and villages in northern and central Nepal.
