The All India Insurance Employees’ Association (AIIEA) has announced its support for the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) and the broader banking sector in a one‑day strike scheduled for Friday, September 11.
The strike is a response to growing frustration among bank employees and officers over unresolved issues, including a demand for a five‑day banking week and opposition to a newly introduced PLI scheme that the union describes as discriminatory.
AIIEA general secretary Shreekant Mishra said the action reflects strong resistance to unilateral decisions, divisive measures and attempts to undermine the established system of industry‑level collective bargaining within the banking sector.
Mishra added that the insurance employees’ movement under the AIIEA has also been raising its voice against unilateral decision‑making, erosion of established practices and weakening of meaningful dialogue. He stressed that constructive dialogue, collective bargaining and respect for trade union rights are essential for healthy industrial relations.
