The government has filed an application with the Supreme Court seeking to quash thirteen First Information Reports (FIRs) registered in Delhi against participants in the NEET protest movement. The court agreed to hear the petition on Tuesday, and the chief spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Saurav Das, confirmed the filing in a post on X.

The petition asks the court to nullify the FIRs linked to the NEET paper‑leak protests and also requests permission to lodge a fresh FIR against 2,873 individuals who were present at the protest site, alleging their involvement in violence. Das said he, lawyer Prashant Bhushan and other CJP members will attend the hearing and expressed hope that BJP‑NDA governments in other states will file similar applications.

In addition to the legal move, Das said the CJP expects progress on compensation for families of students who died following the NEET controversy. He noted that a government delegation had traveled to Puducherry in recent days to discuss the FIRs and compensation, emphasizing that promises made to the youth must be honoured.

Das reiterated the CJP’s commitment to stand by students and young people facing state action, stating that the party will not abandon them. He highlighted that the agitation, which began on June 20 at Jantar Mantar, concluded on July 25 after the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the acceptance of several demands.

The movement’s July 20 march toward Parliament was met with a heavy security response, including lathis, tear gas and pellet guns that injured several protesters. The CJP has announced a peaceful march from India Gate to the Delhi Police headquarters on September 5, accusing the government of failing to fulfil its July 25 commitments.
