Seat‑sharing negotiations among NDA allies are moving toward consensus ahead of the local‑body elections, and Kadapa district is witnessing cordial relations between partners, largely because their leaders share personal rapport.
The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has a strong presence in the Jammalamadugu and Badvel assembly constituencies, is seeking the chairperson position in two of the three municipalities in the region.
Jammalamadugu constituency contains two municipalities—Jammalamadugu and Yerraguntla—where BJP MLA and government whip C. Adinarayana Reddy wields considerable influence. In the adjoining Badvel (SC) constituency, BJP candidate Panathala Suresh, the party’s State SC Morcha president, has contested previously.
Adinarayana Reddy has insisted on a share of municipal leadership and expressed confidence that the BJP can win any municipality it is allotted. He said the NDA alliance is focused on defeating the YSRCP, that the BJP can extract a maximum share from the Telugu Desam Party by following coalition dharma, and that it is ready to give up its stake if it helps defeat the common opponent. The two leaders, including TDP district president C. Bhupesh Reddy, believe in resolving issues through discussion and have worked out several alternate seat‑sharing plans to accommodate reservation categories in urban wards.
