A 23-year-old software engineer, Janani Perumal, died after allegedly jumping from the seventh floor of a paying‑guest accommodation in Whitefield on Sunday. Janani, originally from Puducherry, was residing at the Radha Krishna Co‑Live PG on ECC Road. A 30-year‑old man identified as Manichavelu, who works for a logistics company in Puducherry and lives in Nallathur, also jumped from the same floor.
According to Whitefield police, the two individuals descended to the seventh floor and leapt together. Janani was pronounced dead at the scene, while Manichavelu sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Residents of the building alerted authorities, prompting police to secure the site and transfer Janani’s body for a post‑mortem examination.
Investigators are assessing the severity of the man’s injuries, which are believed to include several fractures. Police officials stated that they are examining the background of both victims to determine whether they were acquainted or involved in a relationship, and to understand the motivations behind the incident. The exact circumstances leading to the jump remain under investigation.
