A 32-year-old fisherman died after accidentally falling into the Arabian Sea near the Baitakhol Lighthouse in Karwar, Uttar Kannada, on Saturday. The victim was identified as Venkatesha Venkappa Harikanthara of Sasihitlu village in Kumta taluk.
Harikanthara was pulling out a net around midnight when he slipped and fell into the sea. The fall occurred while he was engaged in night‑time fishing activities off the coast.
The other fishermen on the boat quickly retrieved his body and brought it to the Baitakhol area of Karwar. They later informed his family of the tragic loss.
A case was registered with the Karwar City Police Station following the incident.
