The body of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Head Constable Pankaj Rudhaula, who went missing 12 days ago in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, was recovered on Saturday, police said. Rudhaula was posted as a driver in the 123 unit of the BRO. Rudhaula went missing on August 10 after being swept away by heavy water and debris in the Tamak drain near Long Segdi village in the Jyotirmath tehsil area of the district due to heavy rains.
The incident triggered a massive search operation in the region. The search operation was intensive and involved multiple agencies, including police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), BRO, Army’s Garhwal Rifles, dog squads, and drones. The search was conducted in the Tamak drain and surrounding locations, as well as along the river bank.
After an extensive search, Rudhaula’s body was finally recovered near Bhalagaon, on the banks of the Dhauliganga river.
