The pilgrimage to the Shri Madmaheshwar Temple in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, resumed on Wednesday after a 12-day suspension. The yatra was halted on August 7 due to damaged paths and a damaged footbridge over the Morkhanda River. Prioritising the safety of pilgrims, the administration made necessary arrangements, including the deployment of police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along the route.
Relevant departments inspected the bridges, the trolley site, and other essential facilities before granting permission for traveller movement. To ensure a smooth and safe journey for devotees, the administration has issued instructions to deploy adequate police personnel at the trolley site to manage crowds and maintain law and order. Arrangements have also been made to streamline pilgrim movement, assist women and elderly devotees, and provide immediate police assistance in case of any emergency.
The trolley will operate according to a set schedule: 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The suspension of the yatra was a precautionary measure taken by the administration due to hazardous trekking paths, adverse weather, and the limited capacity of the trolley being used for transit. The pilgrimage to the Madmaheshwar Temple—situated at an altitude of 11,473 feet in Rudraprayag district—had been temporarily suspended on August 7.
