Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Secretary of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), visited the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) on Tuesday to review the developments in India’s MedTech ecosystem.
During her visit, Dr. Kalaiselvi interacted with Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO of AMTZ, and senior officials. She also visited various MedTech enterprises, including Pyramed, Molbio Diagnostics, Transasia Bio-Medicals, and Electra. The visit aimed to witness the key developments shaping the next phase of India’s MedTech ecosystem.
Dr. Kalaiselvi participated in the foundation stone ceremony of SS Medical Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd., marking its expansion into indigenous MedTech manufacturing with its OptiMaser technology deployed across 55,000 installations in India. She also inaugurated the expanded Medi Valley, AMTZ’s MedTech incubation platform, supported by NITI Aayog. The facility enables startups to transform ideas into prototypes in six months and pursue regulatory clearances within 12 months, with access to specialized labs and facilities.
Dr. Jitendra Sharma expressed his pride and gratitude for Dr. Kalaiselvi’s visit, stating that it is a moment of inspiration as AMTZ enters its next decade focused on accelerating indigenous innovation, strengthening the MedTech value chain, and building an Aatmanirbhar, globally competitive MedTech ecosystem for India.
Dr. Kalaiselvi praised the ecosystem built at AMTZ, calling it a complete ecosystem where innovation, research, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship converge. She stated that AMTZ is a model that deserves to be replicated across India and demonstrates the potential of indigenous innovation, strengthening confidence in achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.
To strengthen startup research linkages, Dr. Kalaiselvi announced that all 37 CSIR laboratories are open to AMTZ startups for research, technology, and innovation support.
