Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 Drives Electronics Demand in Assam

Amazon India has reported a surge in demand for premium and AI‑powered consumer electronics across Assam ahead of the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026, which is scheduled to begin on October 8. The company cited growth rates of 60% in Sivasagar, 58% in Lakhimpur and 50% in Barpeta, as customers in the state increasingly upgrade smartphones, laptops, televisions and appliances. Affordability options are helping buyers move toward higher‑priced products.

Smartphone sales data show that devices priced above Rs 30,000 account for more than 45% of the category value in Assam, while the Rs 15,000‑25,000 segment represents around 25%. Amazon noted that 82% of smartphone shoppers expect AI features in their devices. “What stands out in Assam is how considered buyers are. They are excited about AI and they still look closely at performance and value before they decide,” said Zeba Khan, Director of Consumer Electronics at Amazon India. Amazon’s AI shopping tools—such as Rufus, Lens AI and AI Review Highlights—help consumers compare options and choose the right product with confidence.

In home entertainment, the number of TV shoppers in Assam has increased 8% year‑on‑year, while projector purchases have grown 39%. The demand is also spreading beyond Guwahati, with Sivasagar, Lakhimpur and Barpeta recording the highest growth. During the sale, customers will have access to a range of products, from premium smartphones and larger‑screen televisions to laptops, AI‑enabled devices, tablets, appliances, audio products and fitness wearables.

Two out of three customers use No Cost EMI, instant bank discounts or exchange offers for higher‑value purchases. Customers can avail a 10% instant discount on SBI credit card and EMI transactions, and Prime members can access up to 10% extra benefits. Amazon highlighted its AI‑powered shopping tools—including Rufus, Lens AI, Watch Highlights, Quick View, AI Review Highlights and Smartchoice—designed to help customers compare products and make purchasing decisions. The company said its operations and fulfilment network in Assam will support deliveries during the festive season, and across India Amazon has created more than 160,000 seasonal work opportunities and announced the addition of 20 fulfilment centres, six sort centres and 150 last‑mile delivery stations across 118 cities.
