India and the United Kingdom agreed to identify priority areas for future capital markets cooperation following the India‑UK Financial Markets Dialogue 2026 in London. The two governments highlighted opportunities to boost cross‑border investment and expand Indian firms’ access to international capital, including through listings on GIFT‑IFSC and enhanced capital market connectivity.
Both sides reaffirmed the role of the Financial Markets Dialogue in advancing sustainable growth, deeper trade and resilient financial markets. They committed to practical solutions that deepen financial services links and to progress across workstreams, with updates to be reviewed in bilateral mechanisms and at the next UK‑India Economic and Financial Dialogue.
The dialogue also covered insurance and pension reforms. The UK presented updates to its regulatory framework under the Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy, while India outlined plans to broaden coverage and market capacity. The parties underscored the Insurance and Pensions Workplan of 2023 and discussed reinsurance opportunities arising from India’s evolving regulatory environment and cooperation between the London Market and Indian insurers.
Further topics included the internationalisation of the Indian rupee, London’s role as an offshore trading hub, and sustainable finance standards. Participants exchanged views on fintech, digital inclusion, and responsible innovation, and agreed to continue knowledge sharing on artificial intelligence and regulatory oversight.
