The first Friday of the auspicious month of Sravanam saw Mahalakshmi temples in the region don a festive look, as devotees flocked to offer special prayers to the presiding deities. Various temples in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts were abuzz with activity, with devotees eager to participate in the celebrations. At the Mahalakshmi temple within the Lord Jagannath Swamy temple in Santapeta, Vizianagaram, special pujas such as Ksheerabhisekham and kum-kum puja were performed.
The Sri Kanyakaparameswari temple in G.T. Road, Vizianagaram, was also a hub of activity, with the temple trustee Narayanam Srinivas and other trust board members ensuring smooth arrangements for the darshan of the presiding deity Kanyakaparameswari, who was adorned with special flowers. The Astalakshmi temple in Ayyannapeta witnessed a huge rush of devotees from early hours.
Other prominent Lakshmidevi temples in the region, including those in Cheepurupalli, Kammasigadam, and P.N.Colony, also planned various charitable and cultural programmes to mark the occasion of Sravanamasa utsavalu, which will continue until September 11.
