In a unique initiative to assist Kanwar pilgrims, the Fatehpur police in Uttar Pradesh have arranged for holy Ganga water from the Prayagraj Sangam to be provided to devotees whose ‘kanwars’ are damaged or whose sacred water is accidentally spilled during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. This move aims to spare devotees the hardship of travelling back to Prayagraj to collect Ganga water in case of an accident or any other unforeseen incident.
According to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik, large containers of Sangam water have been brought from Prayagraj and stocked at all police stations, police outposts, and police booths located along the Kanwar route in the district. This strategic placement ensures that pilgrims can easily access the holy water in case of an emergency.
In addition to the police stations and outposts, the holy water will also be available through Dial 112 emergency response vehicles deployed on the route. Pilgrims whose kanwars are damaged or whose Ganga water is spilled can collect the holy water from the nearest police station, outpost, police booth, or Dial 112 team and continue their pilgrimage without interruption.
The Fatehpur police have assured pilgrims of a safe, smooth, and hassle-free Kanwar Yatra. The police have appealed to all pilgrims to contact the nearest police station, police booth, help centre, or Dial 112 in case of any emergency or inconvenience.
The Kanwar Yatra, which began on July 30 with the commencement of the holy month of Shravan, is a significant event for devotees. The Fatehpur police’s initiative is a welcome move to ensure that pilgrims can complete their journey without any hindrances.
