Three researchers from the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, have been named among the world’s top 1,000 scholars in the 2026 Scholarly Index Ranking, a milestone that highlights the institution’s growing research profile.
The honored scientists are Dr. Mohit L. Deb, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, who achieved a world rank of 129 and an India rank of 15; Dr. Yugal Kishore Mohanta, Assistant Professor in Applied Biology, who secured a world rank of 398 and an India rank of 45; and Dr. Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor in Chemistry, who attained a world rank of 844 and an India rank of 89.
Their work spans several key scientific domains. Dr. Deb’s research on indole derivative synthesis places him among the highest‑ranked Indian scholars in chemistry. Dr. Mohanta has contributed to the synthesis and application of nanoparticles, a field that is rapidly advancing in nanobiotechnology. Dr. Mohiuddin’s studies on liquid crystal research and its technological advancements add further breadth to USTM’s international research portfolio.
The inclusion of these scholars in the global ranking underscores the university’s commitment to strengthening research, innovation, and scholarly output. It also reflects the increasing visibility of Indian research in the international arena, positioning USTM as a notable contributor to global scientific progress.
