Guwahati, Oct 8 – Three faculty members of The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) were named among the world’s top 2 % scientists for 2026 in a global ranking released by Elsevier and Stanford University databases on Oct 7.
The honorees are Prof. Amlan Das, Associate Dean for Research & Development in the Department of Microbiology; Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed, Assistant Professor (Research) in the Department of Physics; and Dr. Mukta Agrawal, Assistant Professor in the Royal School of Pharmacy.
In addition, 13 RGU faculty appear on Scholarly Index’s list of the top 1,000 global scholars across diverse research categories. The list includes Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed, Dr. Arvind Kumar Dwivedi, Dr. Biplob Borah, Dr. Bonisha Borah, Dr. Dilip C. Nath, Dr. Anurag Barthwal, Dr. Ayesha Aktar Khanam Choudhury, Dr. Demsai Reang, Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Dutta, Dr. Arghadeep Bose, Dr. Md Hibjur Rahaman, Dr. Supriyo Sen and Dr. Smrity Choudhury. Their work spans physics, biological sciences, chemistry, structural engineering, demography, environmental studies, pharmaceutical sciences, ecology, medicine, urban development and welding technology.
Dr. Ahmed has appeared on Stanford’s list for seven consecutive years, Dr. Agrawal for five, and Prof. Das for two. Their research focuses include theoretical physics and the general theory of relativity, novel drug delivery systems and nose‑to‑brain targeting for Alzheimer’s disease, and antimicrobial resistance and cancer management, respectively. The faculty praised RGU’s supportive environment and infrastructure, noting that the university’s resources and encouragement have been key to sustaining their research efforts.
