In Imphal, a delegation from Manipuri Cultural Youth Organisation (MYCO) of Sylhet, Bangladesh met with Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabarta Singh on Wednesday.
The discussion focused on the socio‑economic situation of the Manipuri community in Bangladesh, the preservation of their cultural heritage, and ways to support the diaspora.
Speaker Singh welcomed the delegation and expressed his commitment to strengthening social and cultural ties between the Manipuri peoples of Bangladesh and Manipur. He praised the fruitful conversation on cultural preservation and emphasized the importance of safeguarding Meitei traditions among the community abroad.
The delegation invited him to visit Bangladesh, which he accepted. He assured that he would make the trip at the earliest opportunity. The meeting highlighted the shared cultural heritage of Manipuri communities on both sides of the border and the importance of continued engagement to preserve and promote it.
