On October 6, a joint consultative meeting of civil society organisations under the Lotha Lower Range Public Organisation and the Lotha Middle Range Public Organisation convened at the Merapani Village Council Hall in Dimapur to discuss issues raised by an upcoming All Commercial Vehicle Association meeting scheduled for October 8 in Wokha.
The meeting was led by LLRPO with representatives from the Merapani Village Council, Merapani Business Union, Yanmhon Area Public Organisation, LMRPO, Bhandari Town Councillors, Bhandari Lotha Hoho, and the Merapani Students’ Union, as noted by seasonal secretary Zathungo Yanthan in a press release.
After thorough deliberation, the assembly resolved that none of the participating CSOs would attend the ACVA meeting on October 8. They also stated that they would not recognise or engage in any discussion unless the meeting is formally convened by the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha and conducted under district administration authority. The group agreed to submit a representation to the Deputy Commissioner, requesting intervention and a response within six days of receipt.
Additionally, the house decided to form an Action Committee, jointly led by LLRPO and LMRPO, with all CSOs as members, to pursue justice and protect stakeholder interests if complications arise. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the collective stance and a call for all parties to respect the adopted resolutions.
