In Shillong, Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) spokesperson Wailadmiki Shylla dismissed concerns that the National People’s Party (NPP) was uneasy about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) growing influence in the state, asserting that the ruling party remains “stronger than before.”
Shylla explained that a meeting of NPP leaders held on Tuesday night was part of the party’s routine practice, occurring every three months, and was not convened in response to recent political developments. The discussion covered governance and other matters concerning the party and the government.
When asked about the NPP’s reaction to the BJP’s increased numbers, Shylla said the party was not experiencing “sleepless nights.” He noted that political changes are part of the natural dynamics of governance, emphasizing that the recent shift was from one ruling party to another rather than from the government to the opposition.
Shylla added that all members attended the Tuesday meeting and that the NPP’s position remains stronger than before.
