Bharat Rashtra Samithi Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao has publicly criticized Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for his handling of the party’s questions on the state’s power situation.
Rao said Bhatti failed to address the specific issues raised by the BRS, instead producing unrelated documents and offering excuses. He demanded that the Deputy Chief Minister explain the government’s stance on power supply, coal availability, generation capacity and the ₹5,420 crore true‑up charges being levied on electricity consumers.
The leader highlighted how low voltage and unreliable supply are harming farmers across rural Telangana. Transformers and motors are being damaged, and farmers are forced to wait in their fields for power, adding to their financial burden.
Rao also questioned Bhatti’s lack of response on coal allocation, noting that the Union Ministry of Coal had earmarked 14 million tonnes per annum of G‑9 grade coal from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. for the Yadadri Thermal Power Station. He sought explanations for the reported shortfall in generation at Yadadri, Bhadradri and Kothagudem thermal plants, and for a proposed Energy Reforms Committee that would guide power sector companies, including Singareni, toward initial public offerings and new borrowing.
