A district‑level training programme on data collection and compilation of village and town directories for the District Census Handbook was held at the secretariat in SEPPA on Thursday, 6 August. The event aimed to equip local census staff with the skills needed to gather accurate and consistent data for East Kameng.
The master trainer, representing the Directorate of Census Operations in Shillong, delivered a comprehensive session covering methodology, prescribed formats, data‑quality standards, and procedures for precise collection and compilation of VD and TD information. Emphasis was placed on the importance of accuracy, consistency, and timely submission in line with census guidelines.
Attendees included the additional district census officer, charge census officers, the dealing assistant, and field functionaries from all census charges. Participants engaged actively in interactive discussions, exchanging operational experiences and addressing practical challenges related to data gathering and documentation.
The training underscored the District Census Handbook’s role as a vital statistical resource for planning, governance, and evidence‑based decision‑making. The programme concluded with a Q&A session that clarified doubts and reinforced the need for coordinated efforts to produce a reliable DCHB for East Kameng. (DIPRO)
