A series of training programmes organised by the Pasighat‑based Mushroom Development Centre under the Arunachal Pradesh Mushroom Development Mission concluded on Thursday in East Siang district.
The five sessions, held from 27 July, reached 200 trainees across the district’s circles and subdivisions. They focused on oyster mushroom cultivation, stressing its low production cost, ease of growing, strong market demand and potential as a sustainable income source.
Participants benefited from hands‑on practical work, demonstration‑based learning and the distribution of grow kits, enabling them to start cultivation at home immediately.
Technical sessions were led by Dr N Surmina Devi, Associate Professor of Plant Pathology at the local College of Agriculture, who provided scientific guidance on mushroom cultivation.
The programmes were attended by Horticulture Department officials, including District Horticulture Officer Oyin Tayeng, Horticulture Development Officer Oyi Modi, Horticulture Marketing Officer Bini Tagom and MDC HDO in‑charge Nuka Dai, as well as local ZPMs and GPCs from Bogong‑I, Bogong‑II, Monggu Banggo‑I, Bosing‑I and Bilat‑I.
