Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to travel to Baramati on November 3 to open the newly developed ‘Prerna Sthal’ at Vidya Pratishthan, according to Sharad Pawar, chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP). The site will feature a four‑tonne statue of Lord Buddha, installed in the Nakshatra Garden, and will include paintings and photographs of prominent figures such as Rajmata Jijau, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Ahilyadevi Holkar, Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and Pawar’s mother, Sharadabai Pawar.
Pawar announced that the ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, Cyrus Poonawalla of Serum Institute, and representatives from Microsoft, whose chief has accepted the invitation. The head of Bharat Forge and other dignitaries are also expected to attend.
The event will include a visit to a centre focused on artificial intelligence that currently hosts 640 students. The main programme is set to begin at about 11.45 a.m., with Fadnavis and Prime Minister Modi scheduled to address the gathering.
During the press conference, Pawar also highlighted the drought situation affecting parts of Maharashtra, urging the state government to provide fodder, water, and revenue waivers to farmers. He noted that the government’s approach of offering assistance without politicising the crisis had been welcomed. Pawar also addressed other issues, including a proposal to increase representation in a committee involving the Vasantdada Sugar Institute and protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, stating that the Centre should take note of growing public resentment.
