On Friday, the governor of Mizoram, Vijay Kumar Singh, and senior state ministers observed Mahatma Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary by paying tribute at the statue of the Father of the Nation in the Aizawl government secretariat.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Singh together with Home Minister K Sapdanga, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister C Lalsawivunga, Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Lalthansanga, School Education Minister Dr Vanlalthlana, Information and Public Relations Minister B Lalchhanzova and Rural Development and Administration Minister Lalnilawma, who each laid floral offerings.
Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena, Director General of Police Sharad Agarwal and other senior officials also joined the event to pay respects to Gandhi.
Following the tribute, the governor and officials participated in a cleanliness drive under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, sweeping the secretariat premises to highlight Gandhi’s emphasis on cleanliness, hygiene and public service.
