Mayawati, president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), used a post on X on Friday to accuse the Samajwadi Party (SP) of practicing dynastic politics and favouring wealthy industrialists, arguing that the party’s recent Rajya Sabha nominations contradict its claims of representing backward, Dalit and minority communities.
In her statement, Mayawati said the SP seeks votes under the umbrella of PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) but prefers members of its own families and large capitalists for positions such as MPs and MLAs. She cited the SP’s decision to renominate senior leader Ram Gopal Yadav, uncle of party president Akhilesh Yadav, and to field Reliance Industries executive Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani as evidence of the party’s contradictory politics.
Mayawati also questioned the SP’s potential move to field a third candidate, suggesting it could be an attempt to save face even if the election outcome is unlikely to change. She urged voters not to be misled by the SP’s PDA narrative, claiming that the BSP, unlike the SP and other rivals, does not rely on family members, relatives or wealthy industrialists but instead fields Ambedkarite workers from poorer and weaker sections of society.
Finally, Mayawati called on poor upper‑caste citizens and members of the Bahujan Samaj—including Dalits, tribals, extremely backward classes, Muslims and other minorities—to remain vigilant ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She maintained that the BSP best protects the interests of these communities and accused the SP of a long‑standing double‑faced approach to politics.
