The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) will hold its 6th convocation on Friday, October 30, 2026, in Guwahati. The ceremony will be presided over by Sri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Honorable Governor of Assam and the university’s Visitor.
During the ceremony, the university will award honorary degrees to five distinguished individuals. Dr. Ashok Seth will receive an Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) for his contributions to cardiology. Smt. Sudha Murty will be conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) for her work as a writer, philanthropist and educator. Sri Sajjan Jindal, Sri Devajit Lon Saikia and Sri William Dalrymple will also receive Honorary D.Litt. degrees for their achievements in business, law and historical scholarship respectively.
The convocation will revolve around the theme “Mizoram,” reflecting RGU’s commitment to celebrating the cultural heritage of the Northeast. The theme will influence the ceremony’s cultural and visual elements.
An alumni meet scheduled for October 29 has already attracted a strong response. The convocation is expected to bring together graduating students, their families, faculty, alumni and distinguished guests to celebrate the cohort’s academic achievements.
