The Ungma Senso Telongjem Dimapur (USTD) celebrated its golden jubilee on Friday, marking 50 years since its founding in 1976. The ceremony was held at Senden Riju in Purana Bazar, Dimapur, under the theme “Terajem Loki Mera,” and gathered members of the Ungma community along with representatives of various Ao organisations.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer opened the event as chief guest, while Water Resources Department advisor Tongpang Ozukum served as guest of honour. Longkumer urged the state’s youth to pursue skill‑based, data‑driven careers beyond traditional government roles, emphasizing the need for human resource development and the role of Generation Z and Alpha in shaping the future. Ozukum highlighted the importance of individual responsibility and practical implementation, calling on community members to take ownership of societal progress.
Former chief minister and Governor Dr S.C. Jamir spoke on the concept of “Temelenshi,” encouraging the community to embrace change with a unified purpose. State Election Commissioner T. John Longkumer reflected on Ungma’s historical significance in Ao culture and the spread of Christianity, stressing that milestones like the jubilee represent steps toward continued social and spiritual development.
The program featured a jubilee song, a poem, and a special choir presentation. The souvenir was released jointly by Lipokmeren C. Longkumer and Sharingain, and a vote of thanks concluded the ceremony after prayers and a closing blessing.
