Around 40 students from schools across Kohima district will compete in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest 2026‑27, organized by the Lions Club of Kohima. The event will take place on October 3 at Rüzhückhrie Government Higher Secondary School in Kohima.
The contest, themed “Harmony in Humanity”, is open to students aged 11 to 13 as of November 15, 2026. Each participant will be accompanied by a teacher. Students from 20 schools—including Rüzhückhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Assam Rifles Public School, Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School, Fernwood School, Dainty Buds School, Loyola Higher Secondary School Jakhama, Kigwema Government Higher Secondary School, G. Rio School, St. Paul School Phesama, Grace Higher Secondary School, Vinyúzo Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Northfield Higher Secondary School, Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Rev. Dr. Neiliezhü üsou Memorial School, JO Foundation Inclusive School, Little Flower Higher Secondary School, PM SHRI Government High School New Market and Government High School Phezoucha, will participate.
Winning entries at the local level advance to district, multiple district, and international judging. The local winner receives a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 from the Lions Club of Kohima. At the international level, the grand prize winner earns US $5,000 and a ceremony in the United States, while 23 merit award winners receive US $500 each and certificates.
The contest will be led by Lions Club of Kohima president Lion Er. Talitemsu Jamir, with Lion Max Menuse‑O Marius, club secretary, serving as chairperson. Artist Ruokuoselhou Miachieo will judge entries on originality, artistic merit, and adherence to the theme. The Lions Club of Kohima has long carried out community service projects, and the Peace Poster Contest is one of its youth‑focused initiatives.
