Union Minister JP Nadda visited the most severely affected areas of Keyi Panyor district in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, assuring the Centre’s full support for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. He toured Possa village and the adjacent NEEPCO Colony, reviewing damage from recent flash floods and landslides.

Accompanied by state Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja, Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung, district officials and panchayat representatives, Nadda inspected flooded residential areas, damaged public infrastructure and civic utilities. He met with affected families and local officials to assess immediate needs such as healthcare and emergency assistance, and reviewed ongoing relief operations and the functioning of relief camps.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted extensive damage to roads and bridges along National Highway 13, the state’s key arterial road, and the loss of 235 roads, 40 bridges, 75 culverts, 373 water supply systems, 161 power lines and 823 electric poles, among other assets. The state’s Disaster Management Department reported that 1,55,858 people were affected, with eight lives lost across 28 districts, and that 1,528.626 hectares of crops, including 780.716 hectares of horticulture, were damaged.

Later, Nadda chaired a high‑level review meeting in Itanagar with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, state ministers, MLAs and senior officers. He directed departments to intensify relief operations, strengthen rehabilitation efforts and ensure timely medical assistance. The minister reaffirmed that, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the Centre would continue to provide swift relief, financial assistance and all necessary support until normalcy is restored.
