The Centre’s Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying will launch a new Livestock Insurance Portal on Monday, a move that marks a key milestone in the digital transformation of livestock insurance services across India. The announcement, issued on Sunday, highlights the portal’s role in streamlining processes for farmers who rely on the Livestock Insurance Scheme.
The portal, unveiled by Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, will offer a single, integrated digital platform for policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring and reporting. By consolidating these functions, the system aims to reduce paperwork and speed up service delivery for livestock owners.
To improve accessibility, the portal will be available in 11 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English. This multilingual approach is intended to allow farmers to access information and submit claims in the language they are most comfortable with.
The initiative seeks to make livestock insurance services more transparent, efficient and technology‑driven. It is expected to strengthen risk protection for farmers, enhance coordination among stakeholders, enable real‑time monitoring, and support data‑driven management of livestock insurance programmes. By simplifying procedures and improving institutional efficiency, the portal aims to bring inclusive, technology‑enabled services closer to livestock farmers across the country.
