A fatal attack occurred on Thursday in the border village of Pilong in Manipur’s Kamjong district, killing four civilians, according to local sources. The incident took place near international border pillars 91 to 93, in a remote Tangkhul Naga community.
The victims have been identified as Vareishim Jajo of Kangpat Khullen, his son Phami Jajo, Betterson Jajo of Kangpat Khunou, and Ningthem Kashak of Zingsui village.
Sources say the attack happened around 1:30 p.m. and that suspected cadres of the Kuki National Army‑B (KNA‑B) were involved. The group allegedly targeted the village, resulting in the deaths of the four civilians present.
A team from the Kamjong Police rushed to the site to recover the bodies and begin an investigation. No official confirmation or statement has been released by the police or other security agencies as of the time of publication.
The incident marks a fresh outbreak of violence in the border district after a period of relative calm. In May, suspected Myanmar‑based militants linked to the KNA‑B carried out coordinated pre‑dawn attacks on Tangkhul Naga border villages, including Namlee, Wanglee and Choro, burning several houses and forcing residents to flee to nearby forests for safety.
