Baghmara, a town in South Garo Hills, has been formally designated as an Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination centre following a memorandum signed by MLA Rakkam A. Sangma and Minister Conrad K. Sangma. The announcement, issued by the local district administration, confirms that the Baghmara Kurang site will host MPSC tests for candidates across the state.
The new centre is situated within the Baghmara Kurang area of the South Garo Hills district headquarters. It will serve as a dedicated venue for MPSC examinations, providing a local option for candidates who previously had to travel farther for test centres. The district officials described the facility as a government‑owned establishment that meets all MPSC requirements.
Local residents anticipate that the presence of an MPSC centre will improve access to civil service examinations and, by extension, government employment opportunities. The community has expressed enthusiasm that the centre will allow candidates to prepare and sit for exams without the logistical challenges associated with distant locations.
Officials noted that the MPSC will conduct the exams in the new venue under standard protocols, and that the centre will also support administrative functions related to the examination process. The district administration emphasized that the facility will help streamline the examination workflow and enhance the overall experience for candidates and staff alike.
