On September 13, BSP chief Mayawati addressed a press conference in Lucknow, outlining the party’s response to the BRICS Summit in New Delhi and highlighting three key issues: the summit itself, protests by Panchayati Department employees, and strategies to strengthen grassroots organization.
Mayawati noted that the wars in Ukraine and Iran, along with tariff‑related and other economic difficulties, have intensified global challenges. She argued that closer cooperation among BRICS members could provide a positive direction amid the uncertain global situation and that a shared currency would further strengthen ties.
She reaffirmed BRICS’ united stance on Palestine, supporting a two‑state solution and an independent Palestine based on the 1967 borders, and praised the group’s commitment to combating terrorism, citing the Pahalgam attack as an example of India’s position receiving support.
Regarding India’s relationship with China, Mayawati said the approach of preventing differences from turning into disputes should be evaluated by its results. She also called for an early resolution of the border issue between the two countries, emphasizing the need for prompt bilateral settlement.
