The Department of Radiation Oncology at Christian Medical College (CMC) hosted the 16th Annual Conference of the Indian Brachytherapy Society (IBSCON 2026) on its Vellore campus. The gathering drew specialists from across India to discuss the latest developments in brachytherapy.
The conference opened with a ceremony led by Vijay Anand Reddy, senior consultant and director at Apollo Cancer Hospital, Chennai. The event centered on the theme “Re‑imagining Brachytherapy in Comprehensive Cancer Care: Precision, Personalisation, and Compassion.”
The scientific programme included lectures, expert panel discussions, debates and interactive sessions that highlighted recent advances and innovations in the field. Delegates presented original research, debated challenging clinical cases and shared innovative treatment approaches, fostering active knowledge exchange and professional networking.
A hands‑on cadaveric workshop focused on brachytherapy techniques for head and neck cancers and soft tissue sarcomas gave participants practical, experience‑based learning under expert guidance. The conference attracted 287 delegates, faculty members and trainees, including Indian Brachytherapy Society office‑bearers.
