Bobbili MLA Baby Nayana announced on Sunday that the state government has agreed to set up a dialysis unit at the Bobbili Urban Health Centre. The move comes after many local patients with kidney disease were forced to travel to Parvatipuram or Visakhapatnam for treatment.
Nayana praised Soru Sambayya, president of the Ambedkar Porata Samithi, and other community leaders for organizing a protest near the health centre to highlight the urgent need for a local dialysis facility.
In a press release, Nayana said that Minister of Medical and Health Satya Kumar Yadav has approved the establishment of the unit and will personally follow up on the project during his next visit to Amaravati.
Sambayya thanked the MLA and noted that many poor patients were forgoing dialysis because they were unable to travel long distances for treatment.
