On Tuesday, a member of the NSCN‑K (Khango Konyak) faction surrendered in Khonsa, Arunachal Pradesh. The surrender took place at the office of the superintendent of police in the town.
The operative, known as lieutenant Hewan Boham, is 35 years old and hails from Olingtong village in Longding district. He was taken into custody by a joint security contingent that included 44 Assam Rifles personnel and 36 troops from the CRPF 36 Battalion.
During the surrender, Boham handed over a 7.65‑mm pistol and four live rounds of 7.65‑mm ammunition. In a release, the Tirap police said the surrender demonstrates the ongoing efforts of security forces and police to promote peace, encourage misguided youths to rejoin mainstream society, and strengthen security and development in the region.
