Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho announced that he would not attend the cabinet meeting held at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday. The decision was made in line with the collective wishes and understanding of the Naga Legislators’ Forum, according to a statement released by the deputy chief minister’s office.
Losii’s abstention comes after fellow Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen participated in the meeting. He said that, given the circumstances and the sentiments expressed by the Naga Legislators’ Forum, it was appropriate to refrain from attending when those involved in creating unrest are part of the cabinet proceedings.
In his remarks, Losii cited ongoing violence by Kuki militants led by the self‑styled “Tiger” Kipgen, the husband of Nemcha Kipgen. He said that justice remains denied for the Naga people, who continue to suffer the consequences of the killings and mutilations of six innocent Naga citizens whose bodies are still unclaimed in the morgue. He added that the oath‑bearing official has breached the Constitution, rule of law and security by sharing state secrets and colluding with her husband, the head of the militant group KNF (P).
Losii stressed that his abstention does not indicate a lack of commitment to his responsibilities or to the welfare of Manipur’s citizens. He reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people with sincerity and to working toward peace, unity, understanding and harmonious coexistence among all communities in the state.
