The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi Manipur (LNKR), a student body representing the Liangmai community, has publicly condemned the killing of Manipur musician Chongtham Vikram Singh in Delhi’s Kilokri area.
In a statement, the organization described the death as a devastating loss to Singh’s family, friends, and the broader music community, and highlighted the fear and vulnerability experienced by people from Manipur and the wider Northeast living in the capital.
According to the LNKR, Singh was assaulted after he appealed to a group of men to maintain peace in his neighbourhood. The student body said that an appeal for peace that was met with violence resulting in a human life was deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
The LNKR urged the Delhi Police to conduct a swift, impartial, and transparent investigation, identify those responsible, and bring them to justice. It added that Singh’s death has sent shockwaves through Manipuri and Northeast communities, deepening insecurity among those living away from home in Delhi, and called for accountability, dignity, and safety for people from the region.
